Kersten expands capabilities
Investment in two advanced PBT bending machines strengthens international production capacity and supports growing demand for complex curved aluminium façade components.
As architectural designs become increasingly complex, curved and free-form façades are placing higher demands on the manufacturing of aluminium components. For façade contractors and system suppliers, the challenge goes beyond producing individual curved profiles. Large-scale projects require precise geometries, consistent quality and reliable production, often across hundreds or thousands of components.
To meet these demands and support its international growth ambitions, Kersten Group has invested in two customized PBT-35 Wide profile bending machines. Developed in close cooperation with Swiss machine manufacturer PBT, the machines have successfully completed acceptance testing and will be installed and commissioned at Kersten's production facilities in Germany and the United Arab Emirates in the coming period.
Proven expertise in complex façade projects
Kersten has extensive experience in bending and processing aluminium profiles for architectural applications and has contributed to internationally recognized landmark projects, including The Opus in Dubai, the MOL Campus in Budapest and the Scotia Place stadium in Calgary.
Such projects require more than bending capacity alone. Understanding material behavior, complex geometries and manufacturing requirements is essential to producing components that meet the demands of modern façade construction.
By working closely with façade contractors and system suppliers, Kersten helps translate architectural designs into accurately manufactured curved aluminium components. Early involvement in the engineering process allows potential manufacturing challenges to be addressed before production begins.
Investing in precision and repeatability
The two PBT-35 Wide machines have been specifically configured for the requirements of the façade industry. Engineers from Kersten and PBT worked together to develop a solution based on the aluminium profiles, materials and bending geometries commonly encountered in international façade projects.
The machines combine advanced bending technology with digital control and production data capture. Bending parameters can be recorded and reused, supporting consistent results across larger production series and repeat orders.
This is particularly relevant for complex façade projects, where large quantities of curved profiles must meet the same dimensional and quality requirements.
The investment also supports Kersten's broader ambition to further automate and connect its production processes, using production data to improve efficiency, consistency and reliability.
Strengthening international production capabilities
With production facilities in Europe and the Middle East, Kersten supports façade contractors and system suppliers working on projects worldwide.
The addition of two identical, customized machines in Germany and the United Arab Emirates will further strengthen this international production network. It increases capacity and supports a consistent approach to aluminium profile bending across both locations.
The investment also aligns with Kersten's growth ambitions in North America, where increasingly complex architectural designs create opportunities for specialized aluminium bending expertise.
Mike Minten, CEO Kersten Group: “The challenge in today's façade industry is not simply producing a curved aluminium profile. It is delivering complex geometries with consistent quality, often in large quantities and within demanding project schedules. That is where we want to make the difference. By combining our bending expertise with advanced technology and international production capacity, we are strengthening our ability to support façade partners on increasingly ambitious projects worldwide.”
Committed to the future of curved architecture
The investment reflects Kersten's long-term commitment to the international façade industry. By continuing to develop its technology, expertise and production capacity, the company is preparing to support increasingly complex architectural projects.
The objective is to help façade partners turn ambitious designs into accurately manufactured curved aluminium components, from initial engineering and prototyping to large-scale production.
