Project

Carioca Wave, Rio de Janeiro

Kersten produced the 3D bent steel roof construction

The Carioca Wave is an elegant freeform canopy designed by the Israeli architect Nir Sivan. The Carioca Wave is located at the Casa Chopping mall in Rio de Janeiro in Brasil. Nir Sivan created a shape of a single yet, geometrically, very complex surface of double curvature. The surface starts at the upper floor above a blue colored water pool, then rises up curving, growing forward, twisting to the other side, and finally dropping down to a lower floor, were it splashes into a white colored pool.
